You can add documents and slides from Onedrive that embeds into Canvas. This way, when you make changes to the file in your OneDrive, the changes will be reflected in Canvas automatically. This is also true if you have 1 files across several locations in Canvas - all will update.

Embedding content directly to the 'module' (unit/topic/week)

Using this method, you will add one file individually, directly to the module. You will not be able to add anything other than the file, or type any message to students related to the file.

To do this, click the + sign at the top right of the module you'd like to embed the file. Choose 'external tools' from the dropdown menu. You can choose either 'OneDrive' or 'Microsoft 365'. This will open up your OneDrive content - from there, you can navigate to the file you'd like to add. From here, you can select the file via the tick box and add it to Canvas.

Embedding content to a page

Using this method, you can add any number of files you'd like to a page. You will additionally be able to add content other than the file, such as typing a message to the students, adding a video from YouTube, adding pdf readings for students, adding a table, an image, etc.

To do this, click the + sign at the top right of the module you'd like to embed the file. Choose 'pages' from the dropdown menu. Choose to create a new page, and provide a title for it. When you add this page to the module, it will appear at the bottom of any other content there by default - you are able to drag it up to another location, if you wish. Click the newly created page, and once it loads, click 'edit' in the top right corner.

From here, click the OneDrive cloud icon in the text editor to add the content - this will open OneDrive and allow you to navigate to and add the file.
